Introduction :

About Ubhas In the last decade of the millennium, a thought sprouted to bring together all Hindi speaking people
Shri Somesh RastogiMr. Somesh Rastogi
Founder
from north India on Nigerian soil to protect and cultivate the north Indian culture. With untiring efforts of Mr. Somesh Rastogi (Budaun, UP, India) and Mr. Ravitosh Shukla (Gorakhpur, UP, India), the organisation "Uttar Bharat Sewa Samaj Nigeria" was founded on 29th August 1999. After Shifting from Nigeria to South Africa. Mr. Somesh Rastogi founded this organisation on 23rd November 2008 in South Africa. It was a humble start of Ubhas on the land of Gandhi and Mandela.

Since Uttar Bharat Sewa Samaj is founded on the foundation of cultural back-ground, It is a non-religious and non-profit organisation. Uttar Bharat Sewa Samaj was incorporated as 'section 21 company' on 18th September 2009 (Reg. no. 2009/018011/08)
 

Our Objectives :

To mix with the local communities by supporting the welfare programmes for upliftment of weaker and unprivileged segment of S. A. society.

To spread the usage of Hindi and to support Hindi initiatives in South Africa.

To keep north Indian people together by protecting and flourishing the unique culture of north India.
 

'Ubhas' Indian of the Year Award :

Annual Award is our salute to Indian role models who have set a noble example before us by dedicating themselves to social welfare.

It is conferred every year during Dussehra Mela to enthuse ourselves and our children to follow in the footsteps of the role models.

Sh Gharib Virjanandji
Role model so far : (2009) Shri Gharib Virjanandji
Sri Virjanandji has established and run Satsangh Samiti's for the past 30 years and Hindi patshalas for the past 10 years. The pioneering work in establishing Hindi patshalas has resulted in the rejuvenation of The Hindi Language in Gauteng where over 200 students now attend Hindi classes weekly. He is now joint Regional Director of The Hindi Shiksha Sangh (Gauteng Region).

Role model so far : (2010) Rajiv Shrivastava
Shri Rajiv Shrivastava
Shri Rajiv Shrivastava was born on 5th May,1962 in Jaipur, India. When he migrated to South Africa in 1990 with passion and love for Hindi language , he started first Hindi teaching school - "Mayfair Hindi and Music school" in Johannesburg. He was also instrument in the birth of Gauteng branch of Hindi Shiksha Sangh. He served Hindi his whole life. He left his mortal body on 20th July,2010 whilst on medical treatment in India. UBHAS salutes the life of Shri Rajiv ji and feel proud to honor him as Indian of the Year for 2010.
